Little Hill Sanctuary

Location: Watsonville, California.

Our Mission:

Little Hill Sanctuary is a 501c3 nonprofit farmed animal rescue organization on the California Central Coast. We provide permanent sanctuary to more than 100 animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and slaughter. We are home to goats, sheep, turkeys, chickens, miniature horses, and pigs, both big and small. Here in the safety of sanctuary animals begin to heal from their past traumas and live the lives they deserve honored as the unique individuals they are. We are a small grassroots organization doing big things. And while we cannot save the world our work means the world to every animal we save.

Little Hill Sanctuary is home to a veganic community garden and food forest that feed the animals here at the sanctuary as well as provide fresh produce for our free plant based community food share program. Here on the California Central Coast we have a year round growing season and are able to grow a wide variety of foods from strawberries and apples to kale and brussel sprouts and even beautiful flowers to support our native pollinators.

We strive to be as sustainable as possible and growing our own food as well as food to share with our community through veganic and regenerative methods is good for the animals and our planet.

We believe that plant based food is a right not a privilege for a wealthy few. Each week we host a free plant based food share in our community to expand access to vegan eating. We welcome anyone in need of food and community to join us and share in this act of mutual aid.

Some of the foods we share are grown right here at the sanctuary in our veganic community gardens and other foods are donated through community partners, local farms and markets, and food drives hosted by generous businesses around us. If you would like to get involved and support our food share reach out to us at foodshare@littlehillsanctuary.org.
