Byron Bay Hinterland Bed & Breakfast by Plant Based Chef
Olive Wood Vegan B&B and Cookery School is set on 3 peaceful acres in the Byron Bay hinterland just 20 minutes from Lennox Heads and only 8 minutes from cafes and the town centre of Alstonville. Owned and hosted by plant-based chef and author Katie White.
The property is home to circa 2,000 established native rainforest trees and has an abundant amount of space to wander, take a swim in the pool or do some yoga on the lawn.
Your room is spacious, light and lovely with direct access to the pool and a private verandah. This stay is the perfect base whilst you explore the Byron Bay Region or simply relax all day at the property!
A Plant-Based Breakfast is included in your stay and having freshly made food available for you is really what sets this stay apart. You will leave relaxed, grounded and inspired.
With wooden floors and large glass windows and doors this space is filled with natural light and air. The room is luxurious, comfortable and spacious and opens out directly onto your own private verandah. The pool is also immediately outside your door and there is air con incase you need to cool down too. The house is set on 3 acres so there is lots of peaceful space around you. You are welcome to walk or do yoga on the property.
You have your own entry to your section of the house and you can access your
room, bathroom, the verandah and the pool.

I am a Le Cordon Bleu London trained plant based chef and author of The Seasonal Vegan which is available at all retailers in Aus. Hence, I love to enhance your experience and stay with my seasonal menu, please see below and message me with your order in advance.
Meals: Meals are optional, and you can select your choices from the following:

Breakfast - $25 per person per day
- Homemade granola with seasonal fruit salad, coconut yogurt, and edible flowers (GF), or
- Avocado on homemade sourdough with feta and homemade relish, tamari toasted seeds
- Your choice of a smoothie, fresh pot of coffee, or chai
Lunch - $25 per person per day
- Hearty seasonal salad and baked goods like caramelized onion, feta, and pumpkin tart, or stuffed capsicums (GF)
- Fresh pot of tea or coffee
Dinner - $30 per person per day
- Seasonal risotto (GF) with salad
- Shak Shuka with couscous salad
- Spanakopita with salad
- Homemade ravioli with salad
Dessert: Enjoy a variety of seasonal desserts, including tarts, individual cheesecakes, poached fruit and custard, panna cotta, and other plated seasonal delights.
Whole cake (choices include Turkish delight, lemon drizzle, peanut butter fudge, vanilla sponge, etc.) - $100
Cookies - $35
Cooking Classes - $200 per person:
- Seasonal plant-based lunch spread
- Homemade ravioli/pasta class
Both options include a 5-course lunch and a copy of my book, The Seasonal Vegan, filled with invaluable recipes and skills that can be used for years to come.
Massage - $100 per person:
In addition to meals, I also offer a one-hour relaxation massage. I'm a certified Swedish massage therapist, and if you're interested in a soothing massage during your stay, please feel free to let me know. Please keep in mind that this isn't a remedial massage therapy, and I'm not qualified to address injuries or specific health conditions. This massage is designed purely for relaxation and wellbeing.
Should you wish to come as a group, please reach out to me to discuss availability for booking an additional room.
Please note that this is my dog's home as well, so if you have any concerns about dogs, kindly refrain from booking a stay. My dog will be present, will likely greet you with a bark, and enjoys pats. Rest assured, he won't have access to your private areas of the house.
Additionally, it's important to mention that the property operates on a sustainable and eco-friendly approach, utilising rainwater for various purposes. This commitment to responsible water usage is an integral part of our dedication to preserving the environment.
The property is located just a 20 minute drive from Ballina Airport, and a 30 minute drive from the beautiful town of Byron Bay, in the beautiful Hinterland area.
You will get to enjoy the our native rainforest trees, and the property grounds which offer space to wander, a pool to enjoy or the beautiful lawn to do some yoga on.
The area of Byron Bay is renowned for its beaches, surfing and community spirit, you won't be short on beautiful coastal walks, views and vegan cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
